I've gone down quite the rabbit hole in terms of watching or playing old media lately, and there's something refreshing about it that lets me have new perspective on them.
Currently rewatching Weeds for probably the sixth time and every year I do I feel closer to Nancy's life than her sons. Probably from getting older, but damn.
It's always nice to have a new experience with old(er) pieces of media.
Oh my gosh yeah! We do this every so often at our place. Both watching media from earlier in our lives and re-interpreting them and also checking out media from decades before.
It is fascinating considering how they feel now and considering the context and what they were trying to say.
I haven't tried this myself, but I've heard people re-watching Spongebob find themselves identifying with Squidward more as an adult vs Spongebob when they were a kid ;owo
One of my favorite things is replaying old favorites. It feels like every time I come back with new life experiences and age I notice new things and get reminded of what I loved and why. Every good game just gets better with time imo.
Replaying old games (final fantasy XII) and discovering characters you used to like (Vaan) actually suck and characters you used to hate (Penelo) are way better than you ever gave them credit for.
Rewatching FLCL for the hundredth time and realizing that you know every word to every scene by heart and can follow along watching the Japanese dub without subtitles.
Im old, I live off of nostalgia. Things today feel shallow and derivative by comparison. MEDIA WAS BETTER BACK IN MY DAY.
when it comes to nostalgia, I can always look at classic cartoons from nickelodeon, fox kids, Disney and more. Especially when I have a really bad day, I just like to turn on a show like "Mickey Mouse Club House" so I can turn off my brain and just vibe with the silly vibes. When it comes to Anime the Aikatsu! series is my go to. cute outfits, cute songs, bubbly characters!

i admittedly didn't really watch Weeds very closely, just a few episodes here and there while my sister marathoned it, but Rod and i have been singing the opening song so much lately lol. 'They're all made of ticky tacky and they all look just the same'.
While i do love revisiting media from my youth, which has become all the more enjoyable by getting into collecting physical media, i also have really enjoyed peering into the past for things i missed. Either things i didn't appreciate enough, completely missed, or was simply too young to experience. Recently i have been playing the old Lucasarts point and click adventure games, a la Monkey Island and Sam & Max.

This is also a blast! Have done that before with Trigun and also classic NES/SNES games. Makes having an extensive and totally legal library of them a blast to go through and pick random titles out.
Monkey Island is also a *classic* and glad to hear you exploring them :D

One of the classics Rod and i have and need to get around to actually watching is Cowboy Bebop. We have listened to the soundtrack on vinyl a ton, but still haven't watched the series despite owning it on Blu-ray lol. Feels like we're waiting for a special occasion, but in reality i think our backlog is just huge XD
With Monkey Island i hit a bit of a dilemma because i finished the first 3 games, but now the next ones chronologically are the Telltale games and i can't decide if i should buy those or just skip them in favor of Escape from Monkey Island and Return to Monkey Island.
i also got sorta sidetracked going back to play through the Myst titles lol.
